We are a specialist tourism and customer loyalty management Company.
Through a voucher/point driven pre-payment facility Asambe has enabled access to all regular income earning Southern Africans to travel, enjoy leisure activities and general lifestyle products and services.
While the company aims its products at areas of essential need for development and growth, it structures them in such a way that people aspire to indeed join the club as card carrying members.
Vision & Mission
- To make travel, holidaying and leisure activities more affordable and accessible to all regular income earning Southern African people,
- To recruit & establish a significant base of Asambe card carrying members paying a monthly premium in return for vouchers/points redeemable for travel or holiday or a leisure activity benefit thus achieving scale economies for Asambe members as well as a profitable business model.
Nature of the Business
Currently, there exists a habit of savings through various social clubs and or stokvels. This practice is formalized through membership of the Asambe program with an emphasis on a better lifestyle and travel.
- Asambe with a specific aim of providing services to emerging consumer markets has launched a premium-based travel lifestyle loyalty program aimed at making various products and services accessible and affordable. This is done through the pre-payment for such products and services.
- The value proposition offered to Asambe members are namely:
- Benefits accrued through the bulk purchasing power of the Asambe database of members
- Regular travel and leisure information,
- Forced savings for travel and leisure products and
- Member’s on call travel agency.
Business Process
Asambe card carrying members – Any person who has joined Asambe The Travel Club
Representatives – Any person who has entered into an arrangement with Asambe Investment holdings to represent Asambe The Travel Club
Asambe The Travel Club – The organization that manages the receipts of monthly premiums from members and issues members with vouchers/points in return
Asambe Tours – A part of the Asambe organization responsible for the redemption of all Asambe vouchers/points.
Suppliers – Service providers like accommodation suppliers, car hire organizations, all modes transport organizations including flights, rail and bus companies, restaurants and most types of entertainment service providers.
Key Personnel
Sakhiwo Tshabalala
Sakhiwo holds an undergraduate degree in Economics, Commercial Law, and Business Economics from the University of Durban Westville and a Business Management honours degree [BCOM HONOURS] from the University of Pretoria. He has experience in retailing having owned and managed several retail outlets as well experience in the broader tourism industry spanning a period of over 13 years. This includes inbound and outbound travel, destination management, as well as global distribution having worked for Galileo Southern Africa.
He has served as secretary of Ukhamba liquor association in KZN, board member of Tourism Durban, council member of ATP a structure within ASATA. In 1998 he led a development team in developing the concept of travel for all working people. This culminated in the launch of ASAMBE in November 1999. In 2000, Asambe Investment Holdings [AIH] launched THE TRAVEL CLUB. Sakhiwo is the Managing Director at THE TRAVEL CLUB.
Evan Tyawa
As co-founder of Asambe Investment Holdings, Evan has provided the leadership initiative for Asambe since inception in 1997. He holds an undergraduate degree in English and Psychology from the University of Fort Hare, which was conferred in 1987.
Evan has worked in the marketing and advertising industries for over 15 years, learning the business through his association with various companies in the FMCG, Foods (Unilever), Financial Services (Nedcor) and Advertising (Leo Burnett) industries. He together with Sakhiwo is the driving force behind the creation of Asambe Investment Holdings (Pty) LTD and provides its vision, leadership and strategic direction. Evan serves as the chairman of Asambe Investment Holdings.
