Q & A
Q: Can I use my Asambe Points at a restaurant of my choice?
A: Yes. All you need to do is contact Asambe and tell them where and when you would like to dine as well as the amount of money you want to spend. Asambe will deduct the points from your membership card and pay the restaurant directly. Please note you cannot exceed your Asambe Points.
Q: Does Asambe cater for groups or does it only cater for individuals?
A: We cater for both groups and individuals. An individual would be the member of Asambe and thus the only person giving instructions for travel or restaurant arrangements. The group would resolve all group issues and the representative would present the group‘s decision to Asambe.
Q: What do I need to do if I would like to resign from the club?
A: You need to write a short letter addressed to Asambe Direct requesting your membership to be cancelled. You will receive confirmation via fax or email of your request and an explanation of the process that would follow.
Q: Do I lose the balance of my Asambe Points if I resign from the Travel Club?
A: No. Your accumulated Asambe Points are valid for one year after you resign from the Travel Club. You can use your membership card as long as you still have Asambe Points.
Q: Can I convert my Asambe Points into cash?
A: You CANNOT transfer your points into cash.
Q: What do I do when I want to travel?
A: Simply fax or email a booking form and call Asambe Tours at least 14 days before your date of departure. A travel consultant will make all the necessary arrangements for your travel. Members do NOT need to phone the hotel, bus company, etc. Asambe Tours will make all the necessary arrangements.
Q: How do I benefit when I introduce a member to join The Travel Club?
A: There are two ways in which you may benefit namely; receive 20AP as a member agent for every member you successfully recruit, or through recruiting five members in one month. This qualifies you to join the Asambe Partner Programme and thus becoming an Asambe partner.
Q: Can I withdraw or borrow money from my membership card?
A: No. Your monthly premium to The Travel Club is your provision for your holiday. This money is only paid out for your travel requirements only.
Q: How long is it going to take me to save before I qualify to travel? How much is it going to cost me to go to a particular destination?
A:The length of time it would take is dependent on both your monthly premium and your chosen destination. Your destination and requirements would determine the costs e.g. a member may simply want a one way bus ticket from Johannesburg to Durban which would cost from approximately 150AP or a return flight including two days, car rental and two nights accommodation which may costs anything from 1250AP per person. This price would be dependent on the following:
- Season
- Time in advance the booking was made
- Depending on the availability of the flights, accommodation and car hire
Q: What happens if I don’t have enough Asambe points to travel?
A: All you need to do is apply for Point Top Up. As each point is equivalent to R1.00, you will know how much money you need to deposit into our account.
Q: Does my membership cover my family?
A: Yes. You can book travel for anyone you wish. Your Asambe points are yours to use at your discretion.
Q: Does Asambe only do bookings for within South African Borders?
A: No. We can book any destination of your choice. However, this is dependent on how many points and you have accumulated in your membership card.
Q: What happens if I’m experiencing financial problems?
A: Simply call Asambe Direct and speak to any of our consultants who will advise you on what to do. Your Asambe account may be frozen (i.e. your bank account will not be debited) until such time that you are able to resume the payments.
Q: Does Asambe own any hotels, scheduled bus service companies or resorts etc?
A: No. This would place Asambe in a disadvantageous position when it comes to negotiating rates with suppliers. We maintain associate relationships with suppliers and negotiate better rates with them for members of The Travel Club.
